A clear sense of how this food may fit, given what you've shared.
Plain-language reasoning
The why behind the read — no jargon, no lectures.
Relevant flags when they matter
Notes tied to allergies, medications, or dietary preferences you've set.
Realistic alternatives
Nearby ideas to try when something doesn't quite fit — never just a no.
Fava is educational. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace guidance from a qualified healthcare professional, and it cannot detect every ingredient, allergen, or interaction.
Food isn't good or bad. It fits — or it doesn't, for now.
Fava is built around a simple idea: foods aren't morally good or bad, and understanding is more useful than obedience. What fits depends on the person, the moment, and the context.
- No calorie counting
- No guilt-based guidance
- No moral labels for food
- No demand for perfection
- No one-size-fits-all rules
- No rewards for obedience
Curiosity is the point
Fava's Learn hub is built for curiosity — what's actually in an ingredient list, what a label claim really means, and how context can change the way a food fits. It's a space for noticing and learning, not a scoreboard.
Shaped by what you share
You choose what Fava takes into account. That might be a health goal, a dietary preference, an allergy, a medication, a condition you're managing, or simply the foods you genuinely enjoy.
Fava is for people who want to understand food better — whether that's exploring new cuisines, working around an allergy, checking a label, or navigating something more complex. You share only what you want to share.
Physician-designed. Honest about what it isn't.
Fava's scoring framework is informed by published dietary guidance and peer-reviewed research. Some explanations, swap suggestions, barcode interpretations, photo-based food recognition, and recipe analyses are generated using AI, with deterministic safeguards for certain allergy, medication, and celiac situations. AI-generated content may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be used for informational purposes only.
