Terms and Conditions
Last updated: July 22, 2026
This page includes Fava-specific terms. The full Terms and Conditions are available through the link below.
Educational wellness service
Fava is a direct-to-consumer wellness tool that provides educational nutrition information based on the health considerations, medications, allergies, and preferences selected by the user. Fava does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, nutrition therapy, clinical decision support, or emergency services.
No medical advice
Fava does not provide:
- medical advice
- diagnosis
- treatment
- nutrition therapy
- clinical decision support
- medication management
- emergency services
No provider-patient relationship
Your use of Fava does not create a physician-patient, dietitian-client, pharmacist-patient, or other professional relationship with Fava or anyone associated with the app.
No emergency use
Fava is not designed for emergencies and cannot replace emergency services. If you may be experiencing a medical emergency, an allergic reaction, a medication reaction, or any urgent health situation, contact local emergency services right away.
Medication limitations
This is general food-medication information and may not account for your specific medication, dose, formulation, lab results, full medication list, medical history, or provider instructions. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist before making diet decisions involving medications.
Allergy limitations
Fava can help flag foods or ingredients you identify as allergies, but it cannot guarantee that all allergens, cross-contact risks, ingredient changes, or labeling issues will be detected. Always check labels, ingredient lists, and manufacturer information.
AI-generated content
Some explanations, swap suggestions, barcode interpretations, photo-based food recognition, and recipe analyses are generated using AI. AI-generated content may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be used for informational purposes only.
Food databases and user verification
Fava's food information is drawn from third-party food databases and provider-published information. This data may be incomplete or inaccurate. Labels, formulations, ingredient lists, and preparation methods may change without notice. Generic foods and branded foods with the same name may differ, and restaurant preparation can vary from location to location. You are responsible for verifying ingredients and labels before making a decision that depends on those details.
Barcode, photo, and recipe analysis
Food recognition, barcode, and recipe analysis may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always verify ingredients, nutrition information, allergens, and medication-related concerns before relying on a result.
User responsibility
You remain responsible for:
- checking labels and ingredient lists
- following provider or pharmacist guidance
- verifying allergy and medication information
- deciding whether to rely on a result Fava shows you
- seeking professional guidance when appropriate
No guarantee of outcomes
Fava does not promise any specific health, disease, weight, symptom, or medication outcome. Fava does not promise complete detection of allergens, medication interactions, or other risks. Nothing in Fava should be understood as a guarantee that a food is safe for you.
Learn and editorial content
Learn is a universal library of educational learning modules — such as reading labels, understanding ingredients, and food myths — shown the same way to every user. It is not personalized, not a prescribed diet, and not a substitute for individualized advice. The library grows over time as more learning modules are added.
Saved items and user-created lists
You may save foods, label scans, guides, and collections in Fava, and you may create personal lists with names of your choosing. Saved content is organizational only. Saving an item does not mean Fava endorses that item as appropriate for you. You are responsible for the names you choose for your lists and for any content you submit into Fava.
Beta feedback
If you are a beta tester, you may submit comments and optional screenshots about a result. Fava may review, reproduce, analyze, and use that feedback to improve the service. Feedback may include the displayed result and a limited set of relevant profile factors that shaped or were evaluated for the result. Submitting feedback does not create a professional relationship. Please do not include third-party private information in your feedback. No compensation is promised for feedback unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
Flagged item confirmation
When Fava shows the flagged-item confirmation prompt, the wording is:
This item has been flagged based on your allergy or medication profile. Are you sure you want to add it? Please verify labels, ingredients, and professional guidance before relying on this result.
Beta and pre-release status
Fava is currently in beta. During the beta period, features may change, outputs may contain errors, and availability of the service is not guaranteed. You are encouraged to report issues. Beta access may be limited or withdrawn at any time.
Full Terms and Conditions
Subscription terms, payment terms, cancellation and refund language, age eligibility, governing law, and other base terms are set out in the canonical Terms document maintained at iubenda.
