Health, AI, and Wellness Disclaimers

This page explains Fava's role, important limitations, and how personalized and AI-generated content is used.
Fava's role
Fava is a direct-to-consumer wellness tool that provides educational nutrition information based on the health considerations, medications, allergies, and preferences selected by the user. Fava does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, nutrition therapy, clinical decision support, or emergency services.
No provider-patient relationship
Using Fava does not create a physician-patient, dietitian-client, pharmacist-patient, or other professional relationship with Fava or with anyone associated with the app. Fava is a general wellness tool. It is not a substitute for individualized care from a qualified professional who knows your history.
No emergency use
Fava is not designed for emergencies and cannot replace emergency services. If you may be experiencing a medical emergency, an allergic reaction, a medication reaction, or any urgent health situation, contact local emergency services or the appropriate emergency line for your region right away.
Medication information
This is general food-medication information and may not account for your specific medication, dose, formulation, lab results, full medication list, medical history, or provider instructions. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist before making diet decisions involving medications.
Allergy information
Fava can help flag foods or ingredients you identify as allergies, but it cannot guarantee that all allergens, cross-contact risks, ingredient changes, or labeling issues will be detected. Always check labels, ingredient lists, and manufacturer information.
AI-generated content
Some explanations, swap suggestions, barcode interpretations, photo-based food recognition, and recipe analyses are generated using AI. AI-generated content may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be used for informational purposes only.
Food recognition, barcode, and recipe limitations
Food recognition, barcode, and recipe analysis may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always verify ingredients, nutrition information, allergens, and medication-related concerns before relying on a result.
Scoring and personalization
Fava's scoring framework is informed by published dietary guidance and peer-reviewed research.
Fava's scores are one input to a personal decision. They are not clinical determinations and do not follow a single fixed guideline for every food. A score reflects the information you have shared and the food data available to the app at that moment.
Learn and recommendation limitations
Learn is a universal library of educational learning modules shown the same way to every user. It is not personalized, not a prescribed diet, and not a meal plan.
Learn content is educational and editorial in nature. It may not reflect every preference or circumstance, and you should verify labels, ingredients, and professional guidance where relevant.
Beta feedback
You may submit feedback about a result from within Fava. A report may include the displayed result, relevant profile factors that shaped or were evaluated for the result, the app and scoring version, your written comments, and — if you attach one — an optional screenshot.
Feedback is used for review and product improvement. Submitting feedback does not change the score you are looking at and does not create professional advice.
