Label Claims Decoded

Do milk labels actually matter?

Grass-fed, organic, A2, ultrafiltered, lactose-free… the milk aisle turned into a spelling bee. Which cartons are actually different? 🥛

The one thing

The choice that moves your numbers most is simply how much fat (whole/2%/skim). And one safety point: lactose-free is NOT dairy-free.

On the package

Tap a claim to see what it does and doesn't tell you.

The honest bottom line

For nutrition, fat level (whole/2%/skim) matters most; ultrafiltered adds protein; grass-fed/organic are a small omega-3 bump and mostly farming.

For digestion, lactose-free (or A2) can help.

⚠️ Milk allergy: lactose-free, A2, and ultrafiltered are ALL still dairy — you need a genuinely dairy-free product (oat/soy/almond), and always check the label.

Something interesting

"Lactose-free" and "dairy-free" get mixed up constantly — one removes the sugar, the other removes the milk. The single most useful distinction on the dairy aisle.

Look at you, out-nerding your dinner table 🎉
